EarthCam Announces The "25 Most Interesting Webcams of 2013" Leading Webcam Network Compiles Its 15th Annual List of Worldwide Cameras FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE New York, December 18, 2013 -- How can art lovers have a midnight conversation with Andy Warhol at his final resting place? How can city slickers feed a barnyard of chickens without getting their hands dirty? Where can visitors travel 605 feet to the roof of the Seattle Space Needle observation deck for a panoramic tour? The answer: EarthCam.com’s 15th annual list of the “25 Most Interesting Webcams”! The 2013 awards celebrate webcams in a wide variety of categories. From some of the most brilliant sunrises over the Gulf of Mexico to “giant” cockroaches that have invaded a seemingly normal home, the views highlight the tourism and educational applications for the live webcam medium. One webcam confirms there’s only one thing more painful than waiting for a flight…watching other people at the Boryspil International Airport in Ukraine waiting for their flight, proving there are good ideas and not so good ideas for webcams. And wait…is that a tremor we just felt? Head over to the Earthquake Seismograph camera at the KABC-TV studios in Los Angeles and read the reports as they come in. Animal lovers have come to the right place, inviting them to visit a group of Great Dane puppies, go underwater with whales, seals and turtles, and even peek inside a guinea pig palace in Portland. “This group of webcams truly stands out for its creativity and execution of live streaming webcam technology,” said Brian Cury, CEO and Founder of EarthCam. “These cameras run the gamut of the good, the bad and the ugly. While all the views might not be beautiful, they certainly are interesting. Many thanks to our judges for thoughtfully selecting this collection.” Travel enthusiasts will get their fill with an all-access virtual passport to the 14 countries that made EarthCam’s list this year, including Iceland, Romania, Kyrgyzstan, Norway and Germany. Head over to Moscow’s incredible indoor Ski Complex, where skiers are hitting the slopes and imagining they are competing in the Sochi Winter Olympics. Want to be a best-selling artist? Join Italian painter, Antonino Cammarata, in his studio and learn some of his techniques. Viewers can also interact with the cameras, posting their top picks and sharing images on their Facebook and Twitter pages. To view the entire list of winners, visit www.earthcam.com/top25. The 2013 judging panel was led by Barry Josephson, Executive Producer of TV Series “Bones” and Producer of the feature film “Enchanted”. Other judges include Al Roker, Weather and Feature Anchor for the TODAY Show; David Allen, Head of Brand and Marketing for Abbey Road Studios and a Top 25 2010 winner; Nicole Hart, Executive Director of Hotel Marketing for the Bellagio Las Vegas; Angelo Ucciferri, Studio Operations Manager at News 12 New Jersey; Leanne White, Education Curator for Top 25 2012 winner the Greenville Zoo; and Commander Ronnie Nader, Astronaut for the Ecuadorian Civilian Space Agency. The EarthCam producers pored over thousands of webcam sites and compiled a list of 60 semi-finalists. Then the panel of judges reviewed the selections and voted which webcams should make the final top 25 list based on quality of the image, uniqueness of the content and overall technical achievements in webcam technology.
